Procedural folks, procedural quilts!
Well now there is a completely procedurally generated landscape and village, complete with villagers you can meet, and houses you can go inside. When visiting a house the owner will be pleased to show you the quilt they've made and you will be sure to compliment them on their hard work.
This is a short post after a bit of time to get it all working. The code still has some bugs. Notably, there is a chance the player could start out on top of a procedurally generated villager or house and get stuck (you'd have to restart now). There is a slight alignment issue in the quilt squares that I will look into at some point.
This isn't a game so much as a place to walk around and have basic greeting conversation stubs, a visit to explore the minimal landscape, and a visit into various homes to see the different quilts that lie there. There isn't a goal beyond this experience. No points or enemies or bosses, though I've thought about adding the ability to alter one's quilt or play it musically.
The version I've bumped up to 0.4 and am happy with where things are now. I feel okay stopping! It was a good exercise to try out procedural generation of this type and to build a tiny village. I'll take the lessons I learned and apply them to future projects. I will try to come back and clean up the code and work out the bugs. I may add some additional functionality like having your own home where you can custom-build a quilt, and maybe make some music, but not sure yet.
